Internships in forensic science laboratories for a forensic science degree and postgraduate students.
A decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held today to hire 150 forensic science and post-graduate students from the state’s forensic science institutes as interns on scholarships for a period of one year every year in various laboratories in the state under the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Government forensic science institutes are functioning in Mumbai, Aurangabad and Nagpur. There are B.Sc and M.Sc (Forensic Science) degree students, due to insufficient employment opportunities; Internships will be provided annually to 150 graduate and postgraduate students in Forensic Sciences by creating coordination between Government Forensic Science and Forensic Science Laboratories.
All these students will be given a scholarship of ten thousand and fifteen thousand rupees per month respectively during the internship period of one year. Students will be recommended annually by three forensic science institutes in the state. These students will be under the control of the Director-General (Judicial and Technical).
Students selected for the internship will be required to carry out the duties and responsibilities assigned to the posts of Scientific Assistant (Group-C) and Scientific Assistant (Cyber Crime & Tasi) (Group-C) in Forensic Science Laboratories. Students who successfully complete the internship will be awarded a certificate from the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories.
