Japan should provide financial assistance in the field of health on the lines of infrastructure – Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
Japan’s Consul in Mumbai Dr Yasukta paid a courtesy call on State Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
The state’s infrastructure projects are being funded by Japan’s JICA. In the same vein, Health Minister Rajesh Tope called on Dr. Fukahori Yasukta, Consul General of Japan in Mumbai, for cooperation in setting up facilities in the state, especially for cancer treatment.
At the Sahyadri Guest House, the Consul General of Japan in Mumbai, Dr Yasukta paid a courtesy call on state health minister Rajesh Tope. Mrs Kerekatta, Secretary of, Department of Health was present on the occasion.
Maharashtra and Japan have always had a cooperative relationship. Tourism, as well as infrastructure development, is being funded by the Japanese government’s ‘Jayaka’ organization. This includes projects like Metro in Mumbai. Given the importance of the health sector in Corona’s background, the sector will benefit if it receives funding from JICA for the construction of health systems in the state. The state health minister also said that financial assistance should be sought from Jayaka for setting up super speciality hospitals at Worli and Mulund.
It also sought cooperation in setting up a cancer treatment hospital at Jalna while providing technology and funding from Japan for setting up a system for radiation therapy for cancer treatment.
During the visit, the Health Minister learned about the situation in Japan, the status of vaccination, lockdown, health facilities in the background of Corona. Necessary assistance will be provided for the vaccination of Japanese nationals residing in Maharashtra, the Health Minister assured the Japanese Consul General.
