Japanese encephalitis vaccination campaign to be launched in January – Dr Pradeep Vyas, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Public Health.

Mumbai: Japanese encephalitis vaccination campaign will be launched in January in four districts of the state – Solapur, Osmanabad, Wardha and Chandrapur. All departments should contribute to make this campaign a success, appealed Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Public Health  Dr Pradeep Vyas.

In these four districts, about twenty-two lakh one hundred and twenty-three children between the ages of one to fifteen years will be vaccinated.

The Japanese encephalitis vaccine will be given in January. To prepare for the campaign, a meeting of the State Action Force was held at the Manthan Hall of Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital. He gave these instructions at that time.

The death rate from Japanese encephalitis is around 30 per cent, said Dr Vyas. Illness adversely affects children’s brains. They have to deal with various problems. Therefore, special efforts should be made to vaccinate all eligible children in the above four districts.

Dr Archana Patil informed about the need for vaccination and preparation for the campaign. Dr Sachin Desai informed us about the preparations for the campaign through a presentation.
