Literature is necessary for the inner and outer development of man – Dr Sadanand More.
Pune: The literature satisfies the ideological appetite of man and from that comes the inner and outer development, but the difference between good and bad should be understood, stated Dr Sadanand More, President of the State Board of Literature and Culture here today. 
He was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the book exhibition today on behalf of Bhandarkar Oriental Studies Research Institute. Dr. More further said that numerous such exhibitions should be held to quench the hunger for reading. In today’s age of online reading, we need to be aware of what we see and what we read. Books are our guide, but we should be able to verify the truth and falsehood in reading consciously, we should also keep in mind that society accepts what is true.
On behalf of Bhandarkar Oriental Studies Research Institute, Dr More, MLA Siddharth Shirole, Senior Writer Aruna Dhere, Working President of the Society Bhupal Patwardhan, Honorary Secretary Sudhir Vaishmpayan, Trustee Rahul Solapurkar, Srinivas Kulkarni, Pt. Vasantrao Gadgil and Dattatraya Pashte of Diamond Publications were present. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dhere said that Bhandarkar Sanstha has started a very commendable project. It is a platform that connects readers and publishers, writers. MLA Shirole said that this is a people-oriented initiative that all citizens should come to Bhandarkar Sanstha. Books are your true guide. The introductory speech was made by Bhupal Patwardhan and the vote of thanks was taken by Corporator Madhuri Sahasrabuddhe.
There are about 10,000 books on various subjects in this exhibition, while 300 different books of Bhandarkar Sanstha are also available for sale. It has a rare collection of books including History of Dharmashastra (5 volumes), Medical Edition of Mahabharata (19 volumes) and Vedic Bibliography. . The exhibition will be held for 10 days from today till 19th December at Bhandarkar Sanstha from 10 am to 8 pm and everyone has free admission.
