Maharashtra Got Maximum “Swachh” Awards for the clean survey; President honours three municipalities in the state.
Maharashtra ranks second in the country in the clean survey.
New Delhi: Maharashtra has received the National Award for the Most Clean Survey Year 2021. Vita Nagarpalika in Sangli district is ranked first in the country while Lonavla and Saswad in Pune district are ranked second and third in the country. These three municipalities have been honoured with awards by President Ram Nath Kovind. With this, Maharashtra has got the second rank in the country in the clean survey.
The National Award Ceremony of Swachh Survey-2021 was organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development at Vigyan Bhavan today. President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Kaushal Kishor, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister of Manipur and Union Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Durga Prasad Mishra were present on the occasion.
Cities, municipalities and military bases which have excelled at the national level were honoured by the President. Other awards were distributed by Union Minister Shri Puri. Also Union Minister of State Shri. Kaushal was also honoured with the award.
In today’s award distribution, Maharashtra has received 40% of the total awards. The One Star rating covers a total of 147 cities across the country. It has 55 cities in the state. The three-star rating has a total of 143 cities across the country, including 64 cities in Maharashtra. In the five star rating, 9 cities across the country were honoured with awards, including Navi Mumbai in the state. A check of Rs. 6 crores was given to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation as a reward. A total of 48 cities across the country were selected among the cities with a population of one million, including 10 cities in the state. The 100 cities with a population of one to one million include 27 cities in the state. Out of 100 cities with a population of less than one lakh, there are 56 cities in the state and the first 20 cities are in Maharashtra. Union Minister Shri Puri presented the second-highest award in the country to the state for its overall clean survey performance. The award was accepted by Mahesh Pathak, Principal Secretary, State Municipal Department, accompanied by Anil Mule, Campaign Director, State Clean Mission (Civil) and other officials.
