Will further reduce the number of patients

Although the number of patients and death rate in Maharashtra is declining, it needs to be further reduced. We are also expediting the vaccination of front line workers and reducing the rate of wastage of vaccines, he said.

Thanking the Prime Minister for guiding the state from time to time in the Corona situation, the Chief Minister said that the tail of the second wave is still wagging, even though the number of patients is declining but not completely reduced. Not only in Maharashtra, but everywhere, people are rushing out of their houses, crowds have started. Revenge tourism, revenge shopping has started. Crowds are starting to gather for religious, political reasons. The state is trying to stop this, but even at the central level, it seems that we have to come up with some comprehensive policy.

Request from the Center of Excellence

Assuring that Maharashtra is ready to deal with the third possible wave of corona and that measures are being taken to prevent the industry from being hit, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said the state should get maximum doses of vaccines; He requested the Center to help in controlling the prices of essential medicines as well as setting up Centers of Excellence for post-covid treatment.

Care not to affect industries

“Under no circumstances will Covid affect products and services in the future and transactions will continue. A task force on Covid has been formed for the industry and will be monitored by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat,” he said.

The Chief Minister also said that instructions have been given to the industries such as division of work and mealtimes, also distribution of mealtimes, vaccination of all workers, temporary accommodation of workers in the company’s premises like field hospitals.

Creation of environment due to corona free villages

“We have created a conducive environment in the state by organizing competitions for corona-free villages,” he said. He also said that a task force has been formed to prevent covid in children.

The need for oxygen

The Chief Minister said that considering the amount given by the Center, in the third possible wave, the state would need about 4,000 metric tonnes of oxygen per day. We can produce 2,000 metric tons. The remaining 2,000 metric tons of oxygen would be of great help only if it came from a nearby state. The Center should help Maharashtra to get LMO from Bhilai, Jamnagar, Bellary Steel Plant. He said that 530 PSA oxygen plants are being set up in every district of the state and district wise oxygen management planning has been done.

Get extra doses

At present, 8 to 10 districts in Western Maharashtra and Konkan are still infected, the CM said, adding that 2.06 crore people under the age of 18 in these districts need to be given both full doses. At present 87.90 lakh doses are given here. Therefore, if an additional 3 crore doses are received, priority can be given to complete vaccination in all these districts, he said.

Medicine prices need to be reduced

Monoclonal antibodies are currently effective in treatment; however, it costs Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 per dose. In the third wave, even if 50,000 patients are asked to be given the drug, it will cost Rs 300 crore; The Chief Minister also said that the central government should impose price restrictions on these drugs and ensure that they are readily available.

Folklore for masks

Doctors and nurses in hospitals and clinics treated people wearing only masks. Initially, there were PPE kits but later doctors have treated them by wearing masks. Today, the mask is our true protector, for which public education and strict implementation is required at all levels, for which the state government is making efforts, informed the Chief Minister.
