Mumbai: A concrete plan should be prepared for rural women’s self-help groups to earn at least Rs 1 lakh per month. Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of, Rural Development Department, appealed to the people to study the examples from other states and conduct experiments in their district.
Mr Kumar was speaking while guiding a two-day residential conference of project directors and deputy commissioners across the state.
Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development Department, said that each district should assess the potential of all the areas in its area and help them in marketing. All the platforms of online marketing are becoming available to self-help groups. For this, regular training should be provided to the self-help groups for packaging and branding. Women farmer production companies of rural self-help groups should be set up.
He appealed to all to work more responsibly for the agencies working at the district and state level to make Umed Abhiyan the foremost at the national level. He also lauded the system for setting up a network of more than 5 lakh self-help groups in rural Maharashtra.
