Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today stated that another dream of development of Pune has come to fruition. Pune Metro should complete the rest of the work expeditiously. Under no circumstances will funding for Metro work be allowed to dwindle, he testified.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the trial run of the East-West Corridor of Pune Metro on the completed route from Vanaj to Ramwadi Corridor in the Pune Municipal Corporation area at 7 am with a green flag. At this time, the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council, Dr Neelam Gorhe, Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, MLA Siddharth Shirole, Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, Leader of Opposition Deepali Dhumal, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Managing Director of Mahametro Brijesh Dixit and other office bearers were present. MLA Chandrakant Patil was present through video conferencing.

Saying that the trial run will be a fulfilment of the dream of a state-of-the-art, comfortable and fast transport system; Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar said that this is a trial run of the modern transport system which adapts the calculation of Punekar’s time along with the transport system that takes the Punekars to the desired place within the stipulated time. With this trial run, Punekar’s dream of metro travel will soon come true. The work of Metro Railway, which is being started in Pune city through Mahametro, is at a crucial stage. Work begins even during the lockdown. About 60 per cent of the work has been completed by now. With great speed, faith, determination, without any accident, this work is on the way to completion. He also praised the hard work of all the engineers, officers and staff of Mahametro and Pune Metro.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that after the completion of Pune Metro and all other routes, this Metro service will start at full capacity; The city of Pune, known as the city of bicycles, motorcycles, two-wheelers, will be known as the city of metro transport. Pune Metro will reduce the stress of vehicles, traffic and pollution on the roads. It will help to avoid traffic jams. While expressing the belief that the people of Pune will be able to reach their destination on time, in the future, the metro rail service will be a pollution-free service. As the number of vehicles on the roads decreases, the pollution through them will also decrease. A ring road is planned around Pune to solve the traffic problem in and around Pune city. The traffic problem is the main problem of Pune city. He also expressed confidence that it will definitely leave Pune Metro to some extent.

Testifying that under no circumstances will the funds for Pune Metro be reduced, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, Pune Metro will run a distance of 33.20 km from Pune city. This metro line includes 30 metro stations. Out of the total length, 27.28 km will run on the bridge parallel to the metro road. The metro will run 6 km through the tunnel below Pune. So far, the total work of Pune Metro is almost 60 per cent complete. He also directed that Pune Metro should complete the rest of the work expeditiously.
