Govt Revises Subsidies For Electric Vehicles, Now Additional Incentives Will Make It More Affordable.

Aiming for faster adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicles in India, the Centre has decided to reduce the burden on EV manufacturers by increasing subsidies on electric two-wheelers. The government had on Friday made a partial modification of the scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India Phase II (FAME India Phase II). 

According to a notification issued by the Department of Heavy Industry on Friday, the incentive for electric two-wheelers to Rs 15000 per KWh from the earlier uniform subsidy of Rs 10000 per KWh for all EVs, including plug-in hybrids and strong hybrids except busses. The department of heavy industries also capped incentives for electric two-wheelers at 40 per cent of the cost of vehicles, up from 20 per cent earlier. 

Tarun Mehta, CEO and Co-founder of Ather Energy, said, “The revision in the FAME policy, increasing the subsidy by 50% per KWh is a stunning move. This move will directly help customers who choose to buy an electric two-wheeler in India.  Sales of electric two-wheelers have grown even though the pandemic and with this additional subsidy, we expect electric two-wheeler sales to rattle the market, and clock 6 million+ units by 2025. Ather Energy already has plans to expand distribution to 30 cities in the next 6 months and this increased subsidy will help accelerate consumer demand, exceptionally good. The Government’s continued support to drive adoption of EVs, with a keen focus on locally built electric two-wheelers will make India the manufacturing hub of EVs.” 

Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director of TVS Motor Company, said, “We welcome the government’s continued support of EVs. Sustainable mobility solutions are very important for the future and TVS is investing significantly behind this. The improved incentives for electric two-wheelers will increase penetration and encourage further indigenous investments in future technology.”

Expressing similar views, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) Director-General Sohinder Gill said, “It’s an important and an admirable decision taken by the government, a move that will bring down the prices of electric two-wheelers nearer to the IC (internal combustion engine) vehicles and remove one of the biggest blockades of the high sticker price of electric two-wheelers.”

भारतातील इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकी वाहनांना चालना देण्यासाठी  इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकीवरील अनुदाना मध्ये वाढ करण्याची घोषणा केंद्र सरकारने केली .  यामुळे इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकींचा वापर वाढेल आणि पर्यावरणाची हानी कमी होण्यास मदत होईल. भारत फेज II (फेम इंडिया फेज II) मधील वाहनांच्या निर्मितीसाठीच्या योजनेत सरकारने शुक्रवारी अंशतः बदल केला होता. 

शुक्रवारी अवजड उद्योग विभागाने जारी केलेल्या अधिसूचनेनुसार, इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकी चालकांना बसवण्याखेरीज प्लग-इन हायब्रीड  आणि स्ट्रॉंग हायब्रीड यासह सर्व ईव्हीसाठी 10000 रुपये प्रति केडब्ल्यूएच एकसमान अनुदानातून 15000 रुपये प्रति केडब्ल्यूएच पर्यंत अनुदान देण्यात आले आहे. .अवजड उद्योग विभागाने वाहनांच्या किंमतीच्या 40 टक्के दराने इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकी वाहनांना अनुदान दिले, त्यापूर्वी 20 टक्के वाढ केली.

अ‍ॅथर एनर्जीचे मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी आणि सह-संस्थापक तरुण मेहता म्हणाले, “एफएएमई धोरणात करण्यात आलेली सुधारणा, प्रति केडब्ल्यूएच अनुदानात ५०% वाढ करणे हे एक आश्चर्यकारक पाऊल आहे. इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकी खरेदी करणार्‍या ग्राहकांना या मुळे थेट मदत होईल. साथीच्या आजारातही  इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकींच्या विक्रीत वाढ झाली होती आणि या अतिरिक्त अनुदानामुळे इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकींच्या विक्रीत वाढ होण्यास मदत होईल.  2025 पर्यंत इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकींची विक्री  6 दशलक्ष + युनिटची पर्यंत होईल अशी आमची अपेक्षा आहे. अ‍ॅथर एनर्जीचे येत्या ६ महिन्यांत ३० शहरात  वितरण वाढवण्याची योजना आहे, आणि आता या अनुदानामुळे ग्राहकांच्या मागणीला गती मिळण्यास मदत होईल. स्थानिक स्वरूपाच्या इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकींवर लक्ष केंद्रित करून ईव्हीएसचा अवलंब करण्यास सरकारचे सतत पाठबळ, भारत ईव्हीचे एक महत्वाचे उत्पादन केंद्र बनवेल. 

टीव्हीएस मोटार कंपनीचे सहव्यवस्थापकीय संचालक सुदर्शन वेणू म्हणाले, “सरकारने सरकारच्या सतत ईव्हीस पाठिंब्याचे स्वागत केले आहे. भविष्यासाठी शाश्वत गतिशीलता उपाय खूप महत्वाचे आहेत आणि त्यामागे टीव्हीएस लक्षणीय गुंतवणूक करीत आहे. इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकी वाहनांसाठी सुधारित प्रोत्साहन वाढेल. भविष्यातील तंत्रज्ञानामध्ये देशी गुंतवणूकींमध्ये प्रवेश करणे आणि प्रोत्साहित करणे. “

सोसायटी ऑफ मॅन्युफॅक्चरर्स ऑफ इलेक्ट्रिक व्हेइकल्स (एसएमईव्ही) महासंचालक सोहिंदर गिल म्हणाले, “सरकारने घेतलेला हा महत्त्वपूर्ण आणि एक प्रशंसनीय निर्णय आहे, ज्यामुळे आयसीला जवळ असलेल्या इलेक्ट्रिक दुचाकींच्या किंमती कमी होतील.”
