On the backdrop of Mahaparinirvana Day, preparations at Chaityabhoomi are nearing completion.

Mumbai: On the occasion of 65th Mahaparinirvana Day of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the sculptor of Indian Constitution; Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Commissioner (City) of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation recently inspected the live broadcasting system at Chaityabhoomi in Dadar as well as the arrangements made at Rajgruh where Dr. Babasaheb resides and BIT Chaal at Paral.
On this year’s Mahaparinirvana Day, which will be held on Monday 6th December 2021 at Chaityabhoomi, the program will be telecast live on Doordarshan’s Sahyadri channel from 7.45 am to 10 am. There is a Chaityabhoomi memorial of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Dadar. Every year on Mahaparinirvana Day, followers from all over the country come to Chaityabhoomi to greet Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Due to this, colorful activities, lamps, flower decoration etc. are done in Chaityabhoomi area. Arrangements are also being made at Rajgruh where Dr. Babasaheb resides and BIT Chawl at Parel as followers visit. All these works have been completed every year.
Although the Covid-19 virus infection has been brought under control, caution is needed due to the threat posed by this new type of Covid’s Omicron. Since omicron is a highly contagious covid virus type, it can be dangerous for large numbers of citizens to come together.
Against this backdrop, the government and the administration have appealed to the followers across the country to stay at their homes and greet Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar from the local area without coming to Chaityabhoomi on the day of Mahaparinirvana. In order to greet the followers even without coming to the actual Chaityabhoomi, the government salute and flower show at Chaityabhoomi will be broadcast live on the social media accounts of BMC and on Sahyadri channel of Doordarshan.
On Mahaparinirvana Day from 7.45 am to 10 am on Doordarshan Sahyadri channel, the program will be broadcast live by Government Manavandana and by helicopter. After that, it will be telecast live for every ten minutes at 9.50 am, 10.50 am, 11.50 am and 12.50 pm, according to Doordarshan’s Mumbai Kendra.
