Pune District Covid Management Meeting: People’s representatives should take initiative to increase vaccination: Ajit Pawar.
The district crossed the milestone of 1 crore 38 lakhs in vaccination.

Pune: 100 per cent first dose of covid vaccination has been given in the district and it is necessary to focus on raising public awareness so
that the second dose should also be given to the eligible citizens. Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar appealed to the people’s representatives in the less vaccinated talukas to take initiative to encourage the citizens to get vaccinated.
He was speaking at the Pune District Covid Management Meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan.
Mr Pawar said that more precautions need to be taken against the background of the Omicron virus. Citizens should be encouraged to get vaccinated against the virus. The number of people taking the second dose of vaccine has increased in the last week under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign and efforts should be made to maintain it. He directed to focus especially on the less vaccinated talukas.
At this time Mr Rao informed about the situation of Covid in the district through a presentation. There are 10 patients infected with Omicron in Maharashtra, out of which 7 are in the Pune district. All of these patients are asymptomatic or have fewer symptoms. Vaccination has been stepped up in the district. In the last 10 days, 8 lakh vaccinations have been given, out of which the first dose is 33% and the second dose is 67%. The district has crossed the milestone of 1 crore 38 lakhs in vaccination and is second in the state. The heirs of 19,174 persons who died due to covid will get the assistance of Rs 50,000 each. He informed that action is being taken as per the instructions of the state government.
