While developing the best metropolis livable for the citizens, suggestions should be included in the plans – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The deadline for submission of suggestions and objections has been extended till September 15, 2021. 
According to the Pune Metropolitan Development Authority’s draft development plan, the suggestions coming from the people’s representatives as well as the citizens will definitely be useful in developing the best metropolis that is livable for the citizens.
Dr Suhas Divase, Commissioner, Pune Metropolitan Development Authority, presented the draft development plan in the assembly hall at Vidhan Bhavan.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that suggestions from people’s representatives and citizens would be useful while finalizing the draft development plan of the Pune Metropolitan Development Authority.
Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe expressed satisfaction over the draft development plan of Pune Metropolitan Development Authority. He also instructed to create facilities for senior citizens and women’s self-help groups as well as the creation of cycle zones. MPs, MLAs and people’s representatives also expressed their views and made some useful suggestions.
The development plan includes 2 ring roads, high speed and crescent railways, 10 metro lines, 13 multi-model hubs, 4 regional centres, 15 civic centres, 12 logistics centres, 5 tourist spots and 3 circuits, 5 educational centres, 2 medical research centres and 7 accidents. Treatment Centers, Biodiversity Parks, Agricultural Process Research and Development Centers, 1 Sports University, 8 Rural Empowerment Centers, 59 Public Housing Projects, 26 Town Planning Schemes, 4 Agricultural Produce Market Centers, 5 Regional Parks, 8 Biodiversity Parks and 16 Urban Important projects like gardens, 4 renewable power plants, 30 fire stations have been proposed.
The total area of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority is 6914.26 sq. Km. This is the largest area in the state and the third-largest in the country, said PMRDA Commissioner Dr Divase while presenting the development plan.
The boundaries of the Pune Municipal Corporation have been extended to include 23 villages within the limits of the authority and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has been appointed as a “Special Planning Authority” to prepare their draft development plans.
The existing land use map of the entire planning area has been prepared on the basis of aerial survey, on-site observation and Geographic Information System (GIS) using a digital elevation model. A base map has also been prepared to show the village maps on the GIS system along with the survey numbers.
The area under the proposed urbanization of the planned area is 1638.21 sq. Km. Is. Of these, 18 urban development centres have been proposed, with a population of 9.53 lakh as of 2011 and a potential population of 40.74 lakh by 2041. For all 18 urban development centres, residential, commerce, industrial, logistics, forestry and agriculture departments have been proposed. These development centres are located at a distance of 5 km from the adjoining rural areas. The premises will provide amenities to the area. The specific concept for economic growth has been decided by considering the resources available for each civic centre. Accordingly, supplementary measures have been taken in the planning plan.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations have been considered in the development plan of the entire metropolitan area. In that connection, necessary planning has been done for the conservation and protection of the environment. Each development project proposes measures for optimal use of natural resources and sustainable development.
A total of 8 Rural Development Centers have been proposed for the remaining rural areas and separate development plans have been prepared for the same. In the remaining rural areas, agriculture, forestry, afforestation, hilltop hill slopes, tourism, green belt use sections and road network are proposed.
Citizens’ suggestions and objections are invited for this model development plan. For the period of 30 days from the date of publication of the notice of publication of the draft scheme in the Government Gazette, the draft development scheme has been made available to the citizens at the Authority’s office at Aundh for solicitation of suggestions and objections. Also, maps have been kept in 9 tehsil offices. The draft development plan will also be available on the Authority’s website. Citizens can submit their objections, suggestions in front of them or by post or email to pmr.dp.planning@gmail.com. The deadline for submission of suggestions and objections has been extended till September 15, 2021.
