Relief work in flood-hit areas begins fast – Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The Chief Minister took stock of the disaster in the state from the Ministry’s control room.
Residents of hill villages and hamlets should co-operate with the administration for evacuation to prevent accidents due to heavy rains.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray visited the control room of the ministry to review the state of emergency created by heavy rains in the Konkan coast, western Maharashtra, and other parts of the state and instructed the administration on rescue operations. Expressing grief over the deaths of two persons in a landslide in Mahad Taluka of Raigad district, he appealed to the residents of hill villages and hamlets to extend proper cooperation to the administration for relocation. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also directed the administration and the citizens to be vigilant and work in coordination with the agencies in view of the warning given by the meteorological department for the next two to three days.
Due to torrential rains, the flood situation is prevailing in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar, Thane, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli districts. The Sangli, Kolhapur area needs to be vigilant as the discharge has started from Koyne, the rains have not stopped completely yet. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray instructed to evacuate the flood-affected people and ensure that the stranded people get food packets, clothes, medicine, etc. immediately.
Take care of covid patients
The incidence of covid infection is high in the districts affected by heavy rains in western Maharashtra. He said that Covid patients should not be inconvenienced due to the disaster.
Deployed units of NDRF
At this meeting; Information was provided about the deployment of NDRF units. A total of 14 NDRF units have reached the designated districts and their district wise information is as follows: Palghar 1, Thane 2, Raigad 2, Ratnagiri 4, Sindhudurg 1, Sangli 1, Satara 1, Kolhapur 2,
SDRF has 2 rescue units for Nagpur and 2 for the Raigad district. Apart from this, one NDRF team has been sent by air from Mumbai to Poladpur.
Two units of Coast Guard and two units of Navy are conducting rescue operations at Ratnagiri.
Reserved units have been deployed at Andheri-2, Nagpur-1, Pune-1, SDRF-Dhule-1, and Nagpur-1.
Till this afternoon, 8 additional units of NDRF are coming from Bhubaneswar.
