Repair all damaged highways in the state before 15th October – Instructions by Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Sounik.
All damaged highways in the state, including Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Goa highways, which were damaged due to heavy rains, need to be repaired immediately.
A meeting was held at the ministry under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Sounik for the repair of national highways in the state. Secretary (Construction) Anil Gaikwad, Chief Engineer of National Highways (NHS) Santosh Shelar, Regional Officer of National Highways Authority Anshumali Srivastava, Chief Engineer of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation S. K. Suravase and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
About 18,000 km in Maharashtra. The construction and maintenance of National Highways is the responsibility of the Public Works Department, National Highways Authority and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. The four-lane and national highways are under the National Highways Authority. The Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Goa highways have been severely damaged due to heavy rains from September 19 to 23. Apart from repairing the potholes on all the national highways in the state including these two highways, Additional Chief Secretary Mr Saunik was directed to complete the work of filling the potholes before 15th October.
Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineer of National Highways instructed to stay at the regional level in Konkan and complete the work on the battlefield; Mr Saunik was also instructed to take permanent measures on busy and high rainfall highways after the monsoon. Mr Saunik also instructed the officers present to develop procedures to take immediate action on the damaged highway.
