The promise made by the state government has been fulfilled.

Mumbai: The state government has fulfilled its promise to give Rs 10 lakh each to the heirs of those who died in the Maratha reservation movement. A total of 34 families have been provided assistance from the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund to the concerned District Collector.

The announcement to give Rs 10 lakh to the family was made during the previous government. But, in reality, only 15 families were given Rs 5 lakh each. This government will fulfil this promise of the previous government. The state government will provide Rs 10 lakh each to these families, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Maratha Reservation Ashok Chavan. Accordingly, a fund of Rs. 2 crores 65 lakhs has been allotted to the concerned District Collector from the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund. 10 lakh each will be given to 19 heirs who have not received government assistance till today and another Rs. 5 lakh each will be given to 15 heirs who have already received Rs. 5 lakh from this fund.

Among the 34 families receiving financial assistance from the government are 6 from Aurangabad district, 3 from Jalna, 11 from Beed, 2 from Osmanabad, 2 from Nanded, 4 from Latur, 3 from Pune and one each from Ahmednagar, Solapur and Parbhani districts. Public Works Minister and Chairman of Maratha Reservation Sub-Committee Ashok Chavan has thanked Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for releasing the funds as per the demand of the Maratha community.
