The constable’s dream of becoming a police sub-inspector will now come true; Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray gives ‘good news’ to police on Vijayadashami.
Revolutionary change in the police force begins, 45,000 policemen will immediately benefit from the decision
Mumbai: The state government has taken an important revolutionary decision for thousands of police constables in the state. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today approved the proposal in this regard, which will fulfil the dream of the state officials to become sub-inspectors of police. He could not reach the post of Sub-Inspector of Police even after years of service but the promotion decision will directly benefit about 45,000 constables, Assistant Inspectors of Police and Sub-Inspectors of Police in the next few months.
This decision will allow an officer in the cadre of police to retire from the post with less than 3 chances of promotion in a short period of time.
With a large number of Sub-Inspector level officers, the need for police officers will be met and the number of police constables and assistant sub-inspectors in the police force will increase exponentially.
Apart from this, the posts of Police Naik in the promotion chain from Police Peon to Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police will also be disrupted.
Work on the proposal has been going on for the last six months under the guidance of Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil at the level of Director General of Police Sanjay Pandey. After a high-powered committee headed by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte sealed the deal, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today approved the proposal, directing that immediate action be taken and a ruling is issued.
Basically, the purpose of this proposal is to promote a person from the rank of police constable to the rank of sub-inspector of police and alternatively increase the morale and self-confidence of the police and increase their efficiency. This decision will provide a large number of officers for each police station to investigate criminal activities and will significantly speed up the investigation of crimes as well as convictions.
