The magnificent Marathi Bhasha Bhavan will stand on Marine Drive.
Mumbai: The Marathi Bhasha Bhavan project to be set up at Marine Drive was presented to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Marathi Language Minister Subhash Desai were present on the occasion.
“Marathi Bhasha Bhavan Mukhya Kendra” is proposed by the Marathi Language Department. The architects made a presentation today under the tender called for the selection of the architect by holding a competition for the construction of the building.
At this time, four eminent architects presented their independent proposals. Exhibition halls, conference halls, libraries were shown in this project. For this project, the government has transferred a plot of land of 2500 sq.m. to the Marathi language department. If construction starts in December 2021, Marathi Bhasha Bhavan will be opened in the next 18 months, informed Marathi Language Minister Subhash Desai.
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation has been selected as the implementing agency. Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, Principal Secretary Bhushan Gagrani, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge and Dr P. Anbalgan were present on the occasion.
