Mumbai: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that the appropriate solution will be worked out immediately in the case of transporters in the state who are facing a financial crisis due to Kovid. The Chief Minister was speaking when a delegation of Maharashtra State Truck, Tempo, Tankers Bus Transport Federation met him at Sahyadri Guest House.
The Chief Minister also said that the Urban Development Department would be informed about the need for adequate parking for buses and trucks in the cities of the state and space would be planned. He also asked for planning to set up a trauma care centre at the place of check posts.
Carriers are in financial trouble because of Kovid. Therefore, exemption from annual motor vehicle tax, business tax exemption, complete exemption of motor tax on vehicles transporting passengers to schools and religious places, provision of parking space for vehicles and buses across the state, reduction of tax on air-conditioned buses transporting workers, heavy and heavy vehicles. The federation demanded the lifting of a 10 to 16-hour entry ban in major cities of the state, cancellation of expired pending traffic cases, reduction of police powers to inspect public service vehicles.
The Chief Minister was also directed to find a suitable solution to those demands along with finance and transport and police. President of Transport Federation Prasanna Patwardhan, Vice President Mahendra Lule, General Secretary Dayanand Natekar were present at this meeting.
