The state government is ready to deal with the possible third wave of Covid-19 and the central and state governments have allocated a whopping Rs 1,367.66 crore under the National Health Mission. Minister of State for Public Health Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar informed that due to this special provision made for the prevention of Covid, various measures will be taken for the essential things.

To prevent possible outbreaks of Covid-19 and to prevent the spread of Coronavirus; Under the National Health Mission, the Central and State Governments have made a substantial provision of Rs. 1367.66 crore, including Rs. 820.77 crores from the Center and Rs. 547.18 crore from the State Government. Skilled and unskilled manpower, essential medicines, machinery, kits required for covid testing, intensive care unit for infants and newborns, abundant supply of oxygen, provision of oxygen beds as well as telemedicine facilities are being provided.

32-bed intensive care units are being set up in 21 hospitals affiliated to district hospitals and medical colleges in the state for infants and newborns. An intensive care unit will also be set up at Gadhinglaj in the Kolhapur district. 42-bed intensive care units for infants and children will be set up at 36 places, including CPR Hospital in Kolhapur and Indira Gandhi Hospital in Ichalkaranji. A 6-bed intensive care unit will be set up at the primary health centre level and a 20-bed intensive care unit is also being set up at the health centre, informed Minister of State Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar.

Considering the potential third wave in the state, the state government is taking more measures than what was experienced in the first two waves or the measures taken. Minister of State Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar has appealed to the people to be vigilant so that the prevalence of covid does not increase in the state by protecting themselves and their families by following the covid prohibition rules.
