He was speaking at the first meeting of the governing council members of the International Sports University of Maharashtra organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services at Hotel Orchid at Mahalunge-Balewadi. The event was attended by Vandana Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of School Education and Sports, and Om Prakash Bakoria, Commissioner, Directorate of Sports and Youth Services.

Mr Kedar said that all the members of the Board of Governors are experts in their field. Their experience will benefit the sports university. We want to build a sports university that will be appreciated by the world and will add to the fame of Maharashtra. It is an attempt to start the best course for the players. That will be discussed with senior UGC officials. He testified that all efforts would be made to overcome all difficulties and build a university that would uplift the name of Maharashtra. There are many employment opportunities in the field of sports. He expressed his determination to have good mentors with the best players through the Sports University.

Mrs Krishna said that the youth should be informed about the employment opportunities in the field of sports. The curriculum and facilities of the sports university should be easily informed.

The members of the Regulatory Council expressed their appreciation for the decision of the Government of Maharashtra to set up an International Sports University. He hopes to become a world-class university in the next 5 years.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Former Indian goalkeeper and vice-chairman of the technical committee Henry Menezes, international rugby player Rahul Bose, Symbiosis vice-chancellor Vidya Yerawadekar, Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, international cricketer Nilesh Kulkarni, principal Dr Anjali Thackeray, Joint Director Chandrakant Kamble etc. were present.
