However, in order to reduce the burden of schoolbags on the backs of school children, and to make the concept of English clear to students from childhood onwards, integrated and bilingual studies will be introduced in all Marathi medium schools in the state from the coming academic year, said School Education Minister Prof. Varsha Gaikwad.

A meeting was organized on Friday under the chairmanship of Prof. Gaikwad to make the English words and concepts more clear to the students along with Marathi. Vandana Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department; Vivek Gosavi, Director, State Textbook Production & Curriculum Research Board (Balbharati); Vishal Solanki, Education Commissioner; Devendra Singh, Director, State Council for Educational Research and Training; Director (Secondary) Mahesh Palkar was present online.

Prof. Gaikwad said that at present in 488 Adarsh ​​schools, integrated and bilingual books have been included in the first syllabus on an experimental basis. Given the success of this pilot project, it will be implemented in Marathi schools. Similarly, textbooks should be designed in such a way that it is gradually implemented in other schools in the next class curriculum. . The textbooks should be attractive, world-class, she said.
