Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar pay tributes to those who took part in Quit India Movement.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis and Pradesh Congress Committee today paid tributes to those who took part in the Quit India Movement. The movement began from Gowalia Tank now known as August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. On this day, freedom fighter Aruna Asaf Ali hoisted the Tricolor at this Maidan.

In a message, CM Uddhav Thackeray offered his prayers to freedom fighters. He said we all should pledge to eradicate coronavirus and double the joy of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. While offering his tributes to freedom fighters Mr Ajit Pawar said, we all should try to protect our freedom. In a tweet Opposition Leader, Mr Fadnavis said, Salutations to all brave sons & daughters of Bharat Mata on August Kranti Diwas, who played an active role in the Indian Freedom struggle.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress President Nana Patole, Cabinet Minister Ashok Chavan and other leaders also offered homage at August Kranti Maidan. Later flag hoisting was also organised. Members of labour unions and activists gathered at the August Kranti Maidan to mark the occasion.
