CM instructs to complete vaccination expeditiously.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today directed that vaccination in the state should also be expedited to curb the spread of the Omicron virus, which is very high.
Maharashtra has so far given 12 crores 3 lakh 18 thousand 240 doses and 4 crores 37 lakh 46 thousand 512 people have taken both doses of vaccine. 7 crore 65 lakh 71 thousand 728 people have taken one dose.
76.69 people between the ages of 18 and 44 have taken at least one dose while 85.25 per cent of people over the age of 45 have taken one dose.
In the last 12 hours, there has been a 45 per cent increase in the number of Omicron patients worldwide and it has spread to 54 countries.
In France, more than 40,000 patients are found daily, while in Germany the number is around 50,000. Austria has also seen the biggest wave since the onset of covid, with around 7,000 new patients being found every day.
The situation in the United States is similar to that of November 2020, when more than one million patients are diagnosed every day. In South Africa, there has been a huge increase in the number of new patients in the last two weeks, with the number of patients being doubled every day.
Against this backdrop, care needs to be taken in Maharashtra as well and the health rules must be strictly followed, the Chief Minister said.
